When you want to feel closer, but the conversation goes in circles
Begin with one understandable episode and one request rather than trying to explain the entire relationship at once.
Separate an event from your interpretation
“You no longer hear me” expresses an experience but leaves room for argument. Describe what happened, how you understood it and what you want to discuss separately. Your explanation is a starting point, not proof of the other person’s intentions.
Make a request someone can answer
A general wish for warmth can become a concrete question: what shared time, action or arrangement are you proposing? The other person remains free to agree, decline or suggest something else. Closeness does not give control over their decision.
Do not settle everything in one conversation
Choose one topic and a limited time for the first conversation. Where both people’s involvement is needed, an individual consultation cannot replace the other person’s consent or perspective. Work begins with your part of the situation and your choices.
Pause and reflect
- Which particular episode do I want to discuss?
- What am I asking for, and can the other person understand it?
- What is within my responsibility?
Would you like to explore your situation?
